Welcome Nebraska Medicine

The medical college was founded in 1869 and chartered as Nebraska’s first medical college in 1881. The medical college became part of the University of Nebraska in 1902. Today, their education programs train more health professionals than any other institution in the state, Their scientists and clinicians are at the leading edge of discovering new medical breakthroughs, transforming lives across the state and around the world. UNMC has six colleges, two institutes and a graduate studies program, serving more than 4,400 students in about 90 programs.1

The Department of Anesthesiology at Nebraska Medicine strives to fulfill the educational, research and clinical missions of the College of Medicine. They host innovative education and research programs, offering exciting opportunities for future clinician-scientists through a residency and seven fellowship programs. Their faculty provide expert anesthesia patient care through UNMC’s clinical partners, including Nebraska Medicine and Children’s Nebraska. Eighty percent of researchers in UNMC’s large research enterprise are faculty members in the College of Medicine, creating opportunities for learners and breakthroughs for patients.2
