PACE

The Precision Analytics for Coaching Effectiveness (PACE) initiative  is a multicenter precision education initiative using MPOG clinical data to support coaching, reflection, and progressive autonomy in anesthesiology residency training.

Medical education is fragmented, and residency programs lack a clear view of residents’ clinical experience and objective data to guide progressive autonomy. In anesthesiology, electronic health records (EHR) data capture performance metrics, patient characteristics, clinical experiences, and faculty interactions.

We will leverage the Multicenter Perioperative Outcomes (MPOG) registry and precision analytics to create an interactive dashboard that provides a visual narrative of each resident’s training to build  master adaptive learning skills and support appropriate progressive autonomy through digital prompts and data-enhancing coaching.

With monthly data from health systems spanning over 35 anesthesiology training programs, MPOG enables real-time scalable, education-focused analytics. A rigorous evaluation will determine how dashboards and coaching support residents’ adaptive learning, prompt autonomy, and strengthen faculty’s role in workplace-based education.
