Roles and Requirements
Role Summary
The Mulcenter Perioperave Outcomes Group (MPOG) Site Principal Invesgator (PI) is
typically an anesthesiologist who serves as the primary research champion at their instuon.
The PI is responsible for leading local data eorts associated with MPOG parcipaon,
represenng the instuon at the Perioperave Clinical Research Commiee (PCRC) meengs,
and ensuring that scienc proposals developed by their instuon are feasible and align with
MPOG's mission.
Key Responsibilies Include:
• MPOG Research Process Knowledge
o Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the MPOG Research Proposal
Process, MPOG Tips & Tricks modules, and key tools such as DataDirect,
Phenotype Browser, and Concept Browser.
o Stay informed about the PCRC Template and PCRC Query Specicaon and be
knowledgeable about procedures for subming MPOG proposals, manuscripts,
and related documentaon.
• Data Management
o Oversee roune submission of the required instuonal limited clinical dataset
to the central MPOG server.
o Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and Instuonal Review Board
(IRB) requirements for parcipaon in MPOG and use of data for analysis.
• Perioperave Clinical Research Commiee (PCRC) Parcipaon
o Review the scienc feasibility and validity of proposed research projects
ulizing MPOG data.
o Aend monthly PCRC meengs and vote on proposed research projects.
• Research Support and Collaboraon
o Serve as the rst point of contact for local researchers at your instuon seeking
to use MPOG data for a research project. Review inial coversheets, aend
research consultaons, and guide local researchers throughout the PCRC
proposal, analysis, and manuscript development processes.
o Encourage and nominate qualied researchers at your instuon to become
PCRC members or to parcipate as potenal PI mentees, supporng the
development of future MPOG research leaders.
o Collaborate with MPOG faculty at other acve MPOG instuons on mul-site
research projects.
