Acute Kidney Injury
- Results: The rate of acute kidney injury was higher in patients undergoing major abdominal surgery with restrictive fluid therapy versus patients given liberal fluid therapy.
Lung Protective Ventilation
- Patients requiring intubation with increased median FiO2, median PEEP and increased duration of elevated driving pressures after noncardiac surgery predict a lower PaO2/FiO2 postoperatively. This ratio may be a potential target for prospecitve trials that look at reducing ventilator induced lung injury.
Management of 1-Lung Ventilation – Variation and Trends in Clinical Practice: A Report from the Multicenter Perioperative Outcomes Group (2018)
- Multicenter study which showed lung protective ventilation techniques are not used as often in patients who undergo 1-Lung ventilation during surgery and continue to receive PEEP values outside of recommended thresholds.
